Steve Franckhauser

Steven Franckhauser, JD, CIPP/US, CIPP/E and CIPM is Chief Legal Counsel and Data Protection Officer for ValGenesis. He establishes and maintains data protection protocols, practices, and contractual compliance for global ValGenesis operations and for its affiliates in India, the EEA, Brazil, Canada, and the US, in interactions with the medical and pharmaceutical sectors.

In early 2024, Steven was recognized by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) as a Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP). The FIP designation is available to those who have earned a Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) as well as a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) or Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT), all of which are recognized by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) as the gold standard accreditation for information privacy professionals. Becoming a FIP demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of privacy laws, privacy program management, and essential data protection practices through the successful completion of at least two IAPP credentials and considerable on-the-job experience. Steven joined a highly select group of professionals worldwide who currently hold the FIP designation.

Previously, Steven served as Co-Director of Cyber Security at a Risk Advisory Services firm. He has been intimately involved in M&A transactions, corporate governance, contract creation, revision and negotiation, and commercial litigation. A national instructor on contractual, business, and privacy topics for continuing legal education forums.

Steven is a past Adjunct Professor of Law at Duquesne University School of Law and Adjunct Professor at the Pennsylvania State University where he taught Information Privacy and Security. He has testified before multiple state legislative committees and served on various business governmental joint task forces. Steven earned his Juris Doctorate from Duquesne University School of Law and his BA from The Ohio State University.
